and Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs during Divination and announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving Umbridge, that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all, but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister of Magic, and have twelve children.

-Favourite reaction to Harry's [spoiler redacted, but it really pissed off the villain in the book] in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling

So like I said, I've been reading all of the Harry Potter books. I just started Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (which I've never read before, unlike the five preceding) and I have a few observations.

One, Snape hasn't got the coping skills god gave a gnat. Two, Neville is awesome and I love him, three, Luna is awesome and I love her. Actually, I pretty much like all the cast, except for the Slytherins (Minus Snape. I love that fuck up) and the villain du jour, although Barty Crouch JR wasn't half bad. Actually, let me rephrase, I like all of them except the Slytherins and Umbridge. Rowling managed to make someone wonderfully toxic with her.

Oh! And four, I sometimes wish the books were from Hermione's perspective so I could see what the unseen teachers at Hogwarts are like. I'm all curious about Sinistra and Vector.

I keep asking my pal Jo who's read this about whether a character I love (McGonagall, take me away) is gonna die or if someone's redeemed and each time she's all, 'ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO KNOW' and I think by this time it should be accepted I actually love spoilers. I already know a lot of the major stuff that happened in the two books I didn't read, if only from the online fights that resulted from them. THANK YOU, FANDOM. Apparently Ron is like, a spouse abuser or something? I lost track. My otp murdered the other one, so I don't have an oar in that stream unless you count me/McGonagall.

RON. Oh my god, Ron. In Order of the Phoenix he gets a taste of the bullying Harry's been going through his whole time at Hogwarts and it's actually really interesting to watch. I don't like Ron being miserable, but I'm reading it and going 'that's going to build SO MUCH CHARACTER' which is both what Calvin's dad in Calvin and Hobbes says all the time, and my psychiatrist whenever I mention something like 'so, my parents are divorcing' and he's all 'that's good. That'll build character'

The Prime Minister’s first, foolish thought was that Rufus Scrimgeour looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of gray in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp. There was an immediate impression of shrewdness and toughness; the Prime Minister thought he understood why the Wizarding community preferred Scrimgeour to Fudge as a leader in these dangerous times.

So this and Kingsley Shacklebot is the only time I've read a description in Harry Potter and been all 'hey, baby'. And on that note, this entry is over.
