Christmas alone this year
Dec. 24th, 2020 07:56 pmFor a variety of reasons involving the plague, I'll be alone for Christmas. Technically someone else is here but there's hockey on so that's more of an academic 'someone else is there'.
I've got plans! I'm going to try and watch movies, eat some hot meals I made myself, and figure out what to do about this final exam that's ruined my entire life. It's a long story. It's been a rough year for me. My diary has a mention of this damn thing every day for weeks.
Anyway I started TRYING TO RELAX FOR CHRISTMAS tonight and I tried cheetos for the first time! While watching Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles and it TURNS OUT I like cheetos! White cheddar ones, anyway. See I always found their whole potential texture *very* off-putting until I realized the caramel 'corn' I was getting in these snack boxes I get as a whim sometimes was pretty much the same and I kinda liked it so I tried a basic North American snack food and was pleasantly surprised.
Yesterday I drank a giant juice jug of cold brew that was meant to last me until boxing day in one hour and I felt like I was going to die. I am the engineer of my own destruction.
I opened up NORAD Santa tracker this morning just in time to see him leave the North Pole! I am well pleased. I wished him well. Normally I'd spend the day updating my grandpa about the adventures of Santa but Grandpa (is fine) is not here this year.
The pasta I *hope* to make tomorrow is 'bison milk cheese in egg pasta' because there was no plain cheese ravioli to be found. Any tips on making alfredo sauce tastier? I have some parmesan I'm gonna try adding already.
So Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles is interesting. It's got a lot of new takes on the characters (Splinter being a deadbeat who doesn't bother learning their names and says things like 'I will never be able to marry them off' is especially new) and I thiiiink there's a lore somewhere about what they're meant to be doing besides fucking around but it's not really present. The plot has shown up in like three episodes so far. I thought the fact it was 11 minute segments instead of full episodes would put me off (it's the reason I never tried Steven Universe) but turns out that's fine! The episodes feel plenty full.
I haven't really decided if for Christmas between FINAL EXAM I'm going to watch movies or just long mystery shows. Both are good, honestly.
Did you know I've never seen It's A Wonderful Life? I might watch that.
