Hello, author! I really appreciate you signing up to write one of these! I hope you have a fun and easy time.

I specifically chose fandoms where I looked at the possible 'characters' and went 'oh, I can't choose!' so rest assured that there are no wrong choices you can make here.

Likes: Light-hearted stuff! Horror! Adventure! Expansion of ideas. I'm okay with any combination of f and m and everything in-between or on its own. I'm happy to read gen to mature.
Dislikes: sex crimes, gore, spiders. In that order.

THE LETTER:

WODEHOUSE P. G. - Works

  • Mervyn Keene Clubman (book) by Rosie M. Banks

  • Songs of Squalor (book of poetry) by Ralston McTodd

  • Spindrift (book of poetry and play) by Florence Craye

What I want you to know that for what I have always loved about PG Wodehouse's work is how reality just seems to narrowly avoid touching the characters. There's a sort of out of this worldness about their attitudes and situations.

So I would be interested in what the fiction by characters like this, or in a world like that, would be like.

Since PG isn't writing these books, no need to stick to his particular style. How DO these authors write? Well, we have a bit of an idea for Rosie M. Banks...

Cthulhu Mythos - H. P. Lovecraft

  • Miskatonic University Student Newspaper

  • Necronomicon (book)

  • Pnakotic Manuscripts (book)

For the Mythos, I'm of two minds. One, I am more than okay with parodies or soundly mocking how 'she was mixed race' was Lovecraft's idea of a horror reveal (if that's what he thinks is scary, how messed up were the texts actually?) but on the other hand I love a good bit of horror.

So please feel free to pursue either avenue. However, I do request you divert from canon, re: Lovecraft's ideas like how poc were more likely to be thralls to evil. I know it's the canon, but I'd really appreciate it.

When I chose any, I MEANT any. Be it the strange happenings at the Miskatonic student paper, the madness contained within the Necronomicon, or that which is contained within the manuscripts, I will be happy with whatever you are inspired by.

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Diana Wynne Jones

  • Millie Goes To School (book) - Diana Wynne Jones

  • Peter Jenkins and the Headmaster's Secret (book) - Diana Wynne Jones

  • A Pony Of My Own (book) - Diana Wynne Jones

Did you know I've never read a girls school book? I have not! If you choose to write Millie Goes to School, it'll be my introduction! If you stick with the style. You don't have to. I just thought that might excite you.

I have read boy's school (Harry Potter, Charlie Bone) but I'm just as eager to find out what Peter Jenkins finds out about the Headmaster! Or what else it could be? Will you write the whole story? A review of the story? A chapter?

I think there's a lot of potential from a book called A Pony Of My Own. Especially on that inspired such horsemadness.

I like light hearted things especially.

House of Many Ways - Diana Wynne Jones

  • The Magician's Journey (book)

  • Res Magica (encyclopedia)

  • The Thaumaturge as Artist (book)

I would be especially pleased if you choose to do one of these stories at face value. Magical encyclopedia entries? A magician's journey instructional text? The third one I don't know how to describe?

I'd love a look at what these books could possibly contain!

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams

  • Anything by Eccentrica Gallumbits

  • Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Sex But Have Been Forced To Find Out - Oolon Colluphid

  • The Guide Guide (Terraria)

  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (book)

  • How I Survived an Hour with a Sprained Finger (book)

  • Oolon Colluphid's blockbuster philosophical trilogy "Where God Went Wrong" etc.

For everything but the Hitchhiker's Guide, I'd love to see in-universe style writing. For the Guide, I'd be especially interested in seeing other sci-fi universes (please don't worry if I'm familiar with them or not) as described guide-style.

If you don't want to do that, please feel free to expand on the universe itself if you choose to write the Guide!

Also I am very curious about what happened to God in 'that about wraps it up for God', if that is where you're headed.

BUT LIKE I SAID when I say any, I mean any. Any of these books would be something I'd like to read. I'm especially fond of the dry humour in the books. Footnotes not required but appreciated.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

  • Anslem (novel)

  • The Federation News Service

  • Incredible Tales (magazine)

  • The novels of Jake Sisko

Anslem is interesting because I'd like to see how the snippets become something that's, according to extra material, to be one of the great pieces of contemporary literature.

What sort of news reports are in the Federation? How does the news explain what the heck the captains get up to?

What sort of sci-fi stories are there in the Trek universe? How would they inspire Trek? Our world is inspired by it and we created tablets and cellphones. What inspired them?

What the heck does Jake also write? (What are the reviews like?)

I have no tone requests for this fandom - I just want to see possibilities explored.

And that's it! That's my letter. Some stuff is sparse, but it's not from dislike. I want everything I asked for equally - I've tried to make it clear when it's the general universe that intrigues me for the fiction or the fiction itself that has my eye.

Anything I receive will be a wonderful gift. And I thank you for being willing to write for me. I hope I've given you something to work with.
