crantz: Pine tree needles with the text yuletide. (yuletide)
Yuletide! I got my gifts! Gifts! I got more than one gift!

I will now rec them to you, because I adored them all. In order on the list:

The Fruits Of Hades

Fandom: Greek Mythology

Summary: Hades has his reasons. Persephone has hers.

My comments: Oh! It had good build up and plots and thinking on everyone's part. And a wonderful mental image right near the end.

Here Thy Hands Let Fall The Gather'd Flower

Fandom: Greek Mythology

Summary: Persephone wanted to be one of Artemis’s maidens. Hades wanted to help her avoid Zeus’s unwanted attentions. Needless to say, things didn’t go according to plan.

My comments: Oh, there's this great bit where Athena talks Hades into her plans and the way they get together and I loved the god cameos and a lot of the stuff in here and it was really such a lovely story. And Charon. I really liked Charon in this. Both the greek stories made me really really happy. They managed to hit my fanon-y belief stuff in ways I really liked.

Of Smiting and Sugar Mice

Fandom: Chronicles of Chrestomanci

Summary: This was a Yuletide Treat which grew. I was intrigued by the idea of Cat and Gwendolen meeting again, and started thinking about how the rest of the castle family would feel about it. Or, more simply, Marianne Pinhoe is not impressed.

My thoughts: Lots of screentime for Julia and Marianne, along with Janet and Roger! I love those guys. And the Cat and Chrestomanci and Millie bits are fun and I got to see a re-meeting of Cat and Gwendolen. Gwendolen=total jerkface. Pass it on.

There's a fourth story, but it says it's part of a madness and won't be revealed yet?

But! Anyway, this was my first time doing Yuletide and it was really fun. I'm so happy with what I got, let alone the fact I got more than one story, all of them excellent.

:D!

this was my yuletide letter
crantz: An amazingly cute kitten gazes at you. She waves her tiny feet in the air. Her itsybitsy widdle feetsies. (look at her TINY FEET OMG)

So for Christmas and to kill time before I could open my presents (there was a mix up with them opening it on Christmas Eve and me going to bed at five pm...), I watched Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine as Scrooge.

This (and possibly the Frog Prince) is my favourite muppet movie. There's a lot of reasons, like how much I like the songs and Rizzo and Gonzo's interactions. They're bros, yo. I love their little exchanges, asides, and the terrible things that happen to them.

This time was sort of impressed that Michael Caine managed to look emotionally moved by muppets singing about Christmas.

Young!Man Scrooge was also, well, kinda hot.

I also always feel sad during the bit where Bob/Kermit and Emily/Piggy talk about Tiny Tim's gravesite. Every damn time. I'm a sap.

This is what I watch instead of some peoples It's A Wonderful Life.
