I'm reading a DC Elseworlds by the name of The Kents, written by John Ostrander and art by Timothy Truman. I just finished the first issue of a twelve issue miniseries, so I'm not sure what it's gonna be like by the end.
The story is about the Kents what first settled in Kansas, mostly on the basis of them really hating slavery. If you look above, Ancestor Kent Silas Kent is pretty much a badass.
That boy beside him isn't Superman, that's his son Nathaniel. I have no idea if he has superpowers or not yet. Maybe! Maybe not.
It's fairly grim so far, with murder, tarring and feathering, and slavery. I'm not sure I'll finish given my stomach for this.
But I felt I ought to read something since I was having such a hard time with Tintin. It's not that there's anything wrong with Tintin, it's just that I've strained my back and my story research computer makes it worse. I found The Kents on my computer from my downloading days years ago. It's out of print right now, unfortunately.
ANYWAY.
Tintin.
I'm reading Tintin in Tibet and have made it to about page... five. Seriously, my back hates it that much. But it's good! Tintin's been having psychic dreams about his friend Chang in trouble. Psychic because... they are true! Tintin must save Chang! Snowy/Milou will probably complain, that little scamp. I wish I knew where my RL copy of this book was, but the flood that took out my basement has pretty much scattered my collection (which survived) to the four winds. The internet, however, provides what I need.
I need to finish reading Where The Mountain Meets the Moon too. I'm about midway and I really really like it. Just the reading a book position is killing me. It just had a twist that I thought was pretty clever! Please, consider buying this book. Even if the rest of it isn't as good as the start, the start feels like it's worth the money. It's available in e-format (even in Canada!), and in paper, obvs. It's illustrated too!
If this back problem keeps up, I'm probably going to choose option: death.
