Comixology is dead, long live comixology

Amazon bought Comixology many years ago. This year they decided that they didn't want it to have a separate storefront anymore, there was a good enough storefront at home, so they took it out back and old yeller'd it. Unfortunately now it's gone from a reasonably organized bookstore to a Floridian fleamarket. Including the chance of an alligator attack.

With no way to sort anything, least of all by publisher, I went through the 'featured' list which had:

• Stolen Scanlation manga


• Over a hundred illegally uploaded Tintins (this seemed to be the most popular stolen comic)


• Stolen hentai with titles that I think might have me on a watchlist now


• Actual regular photo porn of human ladies


• Some actual comics


• Diaper fur hero comics that wasn't stolen so I'm including it not on this list to mock it, but to praise it for going its own way.

I'm depressed. AMA.

Wow, seriously, fuck those guys. Why is .ca so terrible? It used to be a good store and great for finding French language books.

It looks okay, but a lot of stuff is missing, even on the app - no wishlist, no "these are what you're reading right now and how far you've got," no "this is what you just bought." The US webpage just tries to sell you stuff with no personalization at all. The app is just your books in alphabetical order with no filing ability. Just awful.

Actually this is super weird but after the merge, I discovered I had a new wishlist among my lists - all my comixology wishes had been put on it.

Also at some point, possibly last night?, they added series sorting to the .ca store. I've been using to find where I was in the Case Closed series.

Some poor bastard was hanging out with me while I was hitting the .ca store to see what came out.

I'll have to check my wishlists again, but I didn't see the comixology one. Of course it makes these stupid "shopping lists" every time I visit that I have to keep deleting, so it could easily be hidden in there.

I'm honestly not sure anyone's seeing the same thing anymore.

Seriously. I *did* just find the "free to borrow with Prime" comics, so I can finally read All-Star Superman and a bunch of other stuff I would've read at the library. Also the second half of Snow Angels so I don't have to wait for a sale.

Ooo, I didn't see that. This is "free with Prime," though, which isn't the same as Prime Reading. Which costs money but you don't get to keep the books, so it's like an old-fashioned for-profit library.

Oh yeah, it goes without saying that nothing is actually 'free' with amazon. Even the 0.00 stuff they sacrifice a worker's kid to power the server to get it to you.
