crantzBlah blah married to concept discussion blah blah canon is different blah. ANYWAY, as a result of that I made a crack about how I wouldn't, say, app Superman in an rp but insist he's going to be played as a fifteen year old Chinese girl.
Then I paused, and realized that that was actually a fairly cool idea. There was agreement!
In any case, I decided it'd make for an interesting City of Heroes character. And after some thought, I gave her a (human) brother based off of Batman.
I put them in the Praetoria dimension in City of Heroes, a dimension where things have gone horribly wrong. Almost the entirety of North America has been taken by the Devouring Earth, nature animated by the horrible science accident that is The Hamidon, who was once a man. What exists is an oasis of humanity, led by Emperor Cole and his Praetors.
Only there's a reason the Resistance calls Cole 'Tyrant'.
My characters, Hui-Ying Xing and Cong Xing (names that way because Cole insists on everyone following the same pattern, of course), are trapped in Praetoria, but they've heard that there's another world out there and they're determined to get to it. They just need to play Cole's game long enough to figure a way out.
Hui-Ying: Her family was one of the last surviving groups outside of Cole's city, in a manned outpost in what was one New York. One day there was a comet, and a small spaceship was discovered in the crater. They quickly retrieved it before the Devouring Earth could arrive, in the hopes there was something inside they could use to stem the tide. Instead what they found in there was a small baby. She was adopted by one of the families and raised as their own. When she was thirteen, she started developing super strength and other skills. She believes in protecting Cole's city and citizens and has taken the Responsibility path for the Loyalists.
Unfortunately for the outpost, the Devouring Earth were too strong and broke through eventually. There were few survivors, rescued by Cong and Hui-Ying. They made their way to Rhode Island, where Praetoria was located.
Cong: Is the biological son of Hui-Ying's family. He's determined to keep his sister from coming to a bad end, and to save Praetoria by taking down Cole. Since he doesn't have the raw power of his sister, he sticks to stealth and surprise as his main weapons. He has teamed up with the Resistance.
