I got into a Zinefest in town - that only uses instagram and facebook for advertising, so I'm sort of SOL when it comes to like, connecting to them in any way but I'll save that for feedback, I guess.

I've got a short comics collection of HamsterBandit Industry pages, a short story about Snow White's ghost, and two very small squares of an old story idea project I did and a series of ghost story drabbles. I'm planning on making another set of two square zines and also printing a 16 page Batman and Columbo comic. I've gotten lucky on the last part that my dad's agreed to let me use his printer instead of me having to use Staples. It has so little colour in the actual comic that it felt physically painful to pay the price at Staples to double-side print so many pages.

Meanwhile, I'm watching Murdoch Mysteries and 3 thoughts:

1) The genre of 'if you have any hobby at all, you will be murdered' is alive and well.
2) You can really tell that this show was cast around Murdoch actor's (lack of) height.
3) By season 13, they have run out of short actors in Toronto.

You can see the opposite effect in Father Brown, where Brown's actor is a goddamn giant. The actors, including the women, were all cast tall so they fit in the shot with him I think. Bunty was 5'11-6'. The 'tiny' Mrs. McCarthy is, according to my searches... 5'8.

My gf is 5'8, I'm 5'3. She is like a giant to me. It's awesome.

At the Zinefests people buy or trade random zines even when they are not in that particular fandom, because their hobby is zine-collecting? Is it that what is happening?

I guess I'm in the 5'7 range though not on paper.

Quimby's is great! I've been two or three times with Vali. They specialize in stuff that B&N mostly won't bother to carry.* Plus monthly comics and very odd magazines. It has the absolute best sale section of any bookstore anywhere, my choices generally being limited to what I can carry onto the train without dying. My favorite thing is the bookcase that is labeled "Pornography" in delicate cursive writing. There's also a shop in Manhattan now, next to a Sicilian bakery.


*B&N used to have massive back catalogue stock in-store, and it was impossible to go in there and not find something interesting. Now it's more like a very big airport bookstore, with expensive Lego sets. I generally only go in when I get a gift certificate.

Ann answered you right! These are more original media - that's why I've just got the one columbo batman one planned. The Snow White one doesn't count as fanfic due to ~time.

But what if someone needs the fight scene explained like I did? Will there be like a feedback address they can use?

I still have a drawer full of the zine 'Rundbrief' that I started for a game in the PBM/PBeM Hybrid Quest. Because I was not a fool even then I decided that every number be compiled by someone new. We had some crude mechanism for jumping over screwed up attempts, but I'm still proud we made it to Nr. 15, with a set up like that. Plus an inexplicable 100 page special edition issue that mostly pulled stuff from the Internet. That's probably all link rot now. So sorry guy who did that, for thinking it was a bit obsessive at the time.

I'm hoping that was a relatively isolated incident. I'll be there in person and all my zines have my urls on them if it comes to it.

That's impressive! Group projects ain't easy. And a nice archival piece in the process!

I've realized I intended to also do a ghost story I hadn't published anywhere yet so I'm setting up its zine right now. I've been doing spot illustrations for them while I'm at it, especially anytime formatting means there's a blank space.
