Dear Yulegoat!
Oct. 11th, 2023 04:47 amHello, thank you for reading my letter! I'm Rosencrantz on AO3
I took a look into the other fandoms available for Yuletide this year and I found a lot with interesting premises I didn't know well enough to ask for but loved the concept, so I'm offering them up here as AU/Plot ideas if you want to use them! I'll explain after each one what I liked about it.
Exchanges I have loved that would also make fic prompts:
I enjoy: casefic, spooky, adventure, romance, worldbuilding, and stories that could only take place in the canon.
DNW: Dub/noncon, underage (-18/-18 sexual, -18/+18 anything), my chosen characters being the villain of the fic.
FANDOMS:
Fandom: Gargoyles (Cartoon)
Characters:
Fandom Notes: For Gargoyles I have two faves - Brooklyn and the world itself. HOWEVER, due to when school ended when I was a kid, I wasn't able to see much of the final season of Gargoyles so my main memories of that are the cool new places Goliath, Angela, and Elisa would go. There was apparently an entire plot with Brooklyn time traveling and getting a wife? So while it's obviously okay if you use later plotlines, I'm more familiar with the earlier stuff if that guides your writing.
Prompts:
Fandom: The Darkside Detective (Video Game)
Characters: (I chose any for this)
Fandom Notes: I both ship and gen these guys, and get a kick out of all the times Dooley straight up says they're legally married, whether or not they're 'together'. So follow your heart. I enjoy the spookier aspects of the game and also McQueen's existential despair.
Prompts:
Fandom: My Little Pony Generation 1 (Cartoon 1984)
Characters: (I chose any for this)
Fandom Notes: I grew up with this show and what I always loved about it was the high adventure aspect. These ponies got up to a LOT. Fighting monsters, ghosts, elves, wizards, and penguins, they were ready for any challenge. I'd like that spirit of adventure captured in the fic!
Prompts:
Fandom: Murder She Wrote
Characters:
Fandom Notes: I have a hard DNW here about Jessica turning out to be the villain or those headcanons. She is a nice lady who is just haunted by horrible murders everywhere she goes. Stop looking at her funny. If you're inclined, I also enjoy Jessica/Seth.
Prompts:
Fandom: Ranma 1/2
Characters:
Fandom Notes: My blorbo. All versions of Ranma tell me not to like this character and I still do. If you want to write romance, I'm up for it with anyone as long as it doesn't violate my dnws. Gimme dat Mousse. Also I do not want his eyesight fixed.
Prompts:
Fandom: X-Men: The Animated Series (Cartoon 1992)
Characters:
Fandom Notes: When it comes to Gambit, I tend to ship him with either Wolverine or Rogue and I also enjoy bringing in the comics canon that he is a little brother figure to Storm. That said, since none of them are requested, that's totally optional for you! Do as thou wilt! I enjoy the cartoon dynamic of how Remy annoys Jubilee and how they're both mischievious. The episode on Genosha was really big for how I see their friendship. I can't remember if Gambit's a smoker in the cartoon, but if he is, it has always been my secret wish to make a joke that he's really bad at long-term running.
Prompts:
*I'm Canadian and my favourite thing about the Marvel universe is how shady Canada is in it.

- Haunted House Flippers - I love haunted houses, I love the idea of the characters having to deal with one for some sort of refurbishing or selling it
- Welcome To Our Village, Please Invade Carefully - non-catastrophic alien invasion that is awkward sounds fun
- Batman: Wayne Family Adventures - Mundane, family stuff that still deals with the more wild aspects of canon
- Clue - someone in this room... IS THE KILLER
- Epcot/Disney Rides - theme park stuff. Sounds fun.
- Japanese Local Hero City Mascots - Being a mascot, being hunted by a mascot, strange shenanigans involving mascots
- Humans are Space Orcs - Humans and how they can be unique in a setting is interesting to me
- When you see a lore video for a franchise you know nothing about - I would love, especially in worldbuilding prompts, see the characters from the outside.
- X-Files - someone trying to figure out their deal
- Jeeves and Wooster - silly social shenanigans
Exchanges I have loved that would also make fic prompts:
- Alternate Universe Exchange (using the fandom list above as ideas)
- Invisible Libraries (fiction of fiction from inside the universe)
- Epistolatory (fiction told entirely through documents, ephemeral)
I enjoy: casefic, spooky, adventure, romance, worldbuilding, and stories that could only take place in the canon.
DNW: Dub/noncon, underage (-18/-18 sexual, -18/+18 anything), my chosen characters being the villain of the fic.

Prompts:
- The Canadian Gargoyles. I was so disappointed by how that episode turned out. What if they ran into real ones?
- Early New York adventures mixed with later adventures. What if instead of travels around the world, some of those characters came to New York early on instead?
- Finding secret bases around New York
- Pop culture adventures
- A day in the sun
- A scary story (especially if it involves ghosts!)
- Brooklyn/Lexington?
- Brooklyn gets a cat
- Sewer alligators
Fandom: The Darkside Detective (Video Game)
Characters: (I chose any for this)
- Patrick Dooley (The Darkside Detective)
- Francis McQueen (The Darkside Detective)
- Worldbuilding (The Darkside Detective)
Fandom Notes: I both ship and gen these guys, and get a kick out of all the times Dooley straight up says they're legally married, whether or not they're 'together'. So follow your heart. I enjoy the spookier aspects of the game and also McQueen's existential despair.
Prompts:
- Office Spirit Week (in every sense)
- Costumes (undercover, Halloween, etc)
- Something involving Placeholder Dooley
- Since I chose worldbuilding, feel free to consider a story set in the world involving the fandom ideas I listed at the top of the letter!
- Police reports
- Newspaper reports
- Radio broadcasts
- Urban legends
Fandom: My Little Pony Generation 1 (Cartoon 1984)
Characters: (I chose any for this)
- Wind Whistler (My Little Pony G1)
- Masquerade (My Little Pony G1)
- Worldbuilding (My Little Pony G1)
Fandom Notes: I grew up with this show and what I always loved about it was the high adventure aspect. These ponies got up to a LOT. Fighting monsters, ghosts, elves, wizards, and penguins, they were ready for any challenge. I'd like that spirit of adventure captured in the fic!
Prompts:
- Ghosts
- Research project that goes awry
- Costume stuff (to do a rescue, to infiltrate, to put on a show, to help set up a surprise)
- Humans Are Space Orcs (I know Megan and co. aren't nominated, but something about how damned effective those little kids are in a worldbuilding sense might be interesting, especially since Masquerade and Wind Whistler are both partnered to Danny and Megan, respectively)
- Stories they tell each other (legends, ghost stories, warnings, fairy tales)
- In the comics and in a lot of the materials outside the cartoon, there was a pony named Majesty who was the ruler of all the ponies. As well there were other cities that you see like in the Night Shade episode, and then there's the Princess Ponies and the adventures of the Big Brothers. What's going on out there? What kind of world is it? What sort of community are the ponies in the POV?
Fandom: Murder She Wrote
Characters:
- Jessica Fletcher
Fandom Notes: I have a hard DNW here about Jessica turning out to be the villain or those headcanons. She is a nice lady who is just haunted by horrible murders everywhere she goes. Stop looking at her funny. If you're inclined, I also enjoy Jessica/Seth.
Prompts:
- WHAT IF IT WAS A GHOST
- What if Jessica wrote another genre of book and the ensuing adventures?
- Modern!Jessica
- Historical!Jessica
- Adventures of young!Jessica
- Casefic
- Awkward interviews
- Some strange thing she has to do to promote her book
- What if her niece/cousin/etc DID do it and she has to deal with that?
- Karaoke
Fandom: Ranma 1/2
Characters:
- Mousse (Ranma 1/2)
Fandom Notes: My blorbo. All versions of Ranma tell me not to like this character and I still do. If you want to write romance, I'm up for it with anyone as long as it doesn't violate my dnws. Gimme dat Mousse. Also I do not want his eyesight fixed.
Prompts:
- Chinese media has some really cool horror concepts. So does Japan. Both would apply to Mousse, if you want to do something with that. Especially ghosts.
- Amazon society. The whole concept of a male Amazon.
- Duck adventures.
- Something Goes Right For Mousse
- Something Goes Wrong But Things Keep Occurring
- Mousse gets a crush on someone else
- Role reversal - someone else is Mousse's rival or it's him avoiding Shampoo for whatever reason.
- Those fandom prompts above, I'm up for all of them but the invasion one would be very interesting, having read some Urusei Yatsura.
Fandom: X-Men: The Animated Series (Cartoon 1992)
Characters:
- Jubilation "Jubilee" Lee (X-Men The Animated Series 1992)
- Remy LeBeau (X-Men The Animated Series 1992)
Prompts:
- This is kind of a weird one but-- politics in their universe. I think that there'd be like, more than the two parties that dominate the US landscape today because there's just SO many issues. Mutants? Aliens (GALACTUS)? Time travel? Magic? Countries that don't exist in our world? The fact Canada is evil?* Anyway my idea here is Jubilee going to cast her first vote and going through like, a dozen pamphlets to figure out a pro-mutant candidate that isn't also a pro-skrull anti-spider-man pro-assimilating Canada unicorn. So what I'm suggesting here isn't something involving real issues, but something involving issues that could only happen in her world. Also I would like to point out Gambit cannot legally vote as he is a kidnapped baby orphan who was raised by a secret cult so all his paperwork is fake.
- Something with Mr. Sinister as the antagonist
- Morlock episode!
- Heist!
- Murder She Wrote crossover
- Jubilee tries to teach Gambit how to game
- Gambit gets permanantly trapped in Rogue's mind
- Jubilee's first date (normal human? An existing Marvel character? A skrull? A Sentinel?)
- Gambit dealing with after effects of the head injury he got in that episode where Nightcrawler was introduced, you know when he ski'd into a tree?
- Body swap
- Anything involving the vibes/ideas from the fandom list above
*I'm Canadian and my favourite thing about the Marvel universe is how shady Canada is in it.
