"To be clear, I am pretty woke. I'm gay, Spanish-speaking, extremely liberal, minored in women's studies, the works. Which is why I hate that I am going to write, "but...""
You bet in the next sentence this guy on goodreads calls a (fictional) 9 year old black girl a bitch.
Related to this, I'm taking a pickaxe to my TBR pile and seeing the other reviews on stuff I read after I finish it and mark it on goodreads is a TRIP.
I'm glad others agreed with me that Jenny Finn is really one of Mignola's weakest works, tho'.
I read The Mystery of the Meanest Teacher by Ryan North and Derek Charm a few hours after it released, it's a YA graphic novel about John Constantine and unfortunately the best part of it was Ryan North referring to it as Heckblazer. I am disappointed! But the odds were stacked against it anyway. I don't *like* Constantine very much and it wasn't exactly fair to expect the comic to turn me into a believer. I chose not to leave a review because there is nothing more unhelpful than 'I already didn't like the character and the premise didn't appeal to me and SURPRISE'.

Date: 2021-07-23 08:50 pm (UTC)My TBR stacks are an earthquake hazard and I should not let myself buy more books. And then I get 'em on kindle..... Sigh.
Heckblazer! XDDD
I really liked the Keanu Reeves movie? It's visually v striking and also TILDA SWINTON and also also I have almost as hard a time not staring at Rachel Weiss whenever she's on screen, let alone soaked to the skin and having visions.
I enjoyed that on the multiversal DC crossover series on some cable tv or other that I watched at a friend's house Constantine went over to Lucifer (tv) to get a favor or something. I liked the first two seasons of Lucifer! I'm still in mid-slog of season 3, but I'm told it gets better so I'm hoping....

Yes! Just a slip-in of bits of humor, too! I like watching it in summer; it feels like a Summer in LA movie... XD
