Dear Yulegoat
Oct. 24th, 2019 09:00 pmDear Yulegoat, many happy returns.
I am Rosencrantz on AO3 and I'm happy you're reading my letter! Thank you!
My likes: Casefic, adventures, spooky ghosts, and lightheartedness
My DNWS: Non/dubcon, unhappy endings, a/b/o, underage.
Blanket permission: For crossovers between all my choices and/or Untitled Goose Game.

Fandom:
Midsomer Murders
Characters:
Prompts:
Note: I've only seen up to John Barnaby's first episode, s13e2, (they took it off Netflix when I got to that one), so don't include anything too canon heavy beyond that point but you can use John if you want!
I'm happy with any of the detectives, Joyce, etc. What I'd like is some sort of worldbuilding for Midsomer. WHY all the murders. Is there some sort of report they have to put in explaining it? Is there a secret 'take a shot' game for each type of murder? Is there 'we've finally fallen behind Cabot Cove in Murder Capitol of the World' celebration?
Or a casefic!
Or something ridiculously domestic where they go out for a picnic and don't find a single body and Barnaby gets increasingly freaked out.
Or something completely out of the blue, like the mysterious dissections and disappearances WERE aliens, not just some servant obsessed with preserving their boss's royal bloodline.
Or a horrible goose has interfered with the crime scene...

Murder She Wrote
Characters:
Prompts:
Fandom specific DNW: Jessica is a killer or seen as pitiful.
I LOVE casefic. I love her meeting other detectives. I love her doing things with her books. I love that she sort of has a son in Grady. I love the citizens of Cabot Cove. I love how she and Seth act kind of like they're together. (Re: That ship, it's fine with me if it's not present in the fic at all or if you DO want to write romantic fic about Jessica you put her with someone else. Except for Grady, I have no one I really would be adverse to seeing her with)
I love how she sets up elaborate scenarios to catch people.

Murdoch Mysteries
Characters:
Prompts:
Note: I have only seen seasons 1-9 and I can't promise I'll get further by the end of YT, though I love the show. Please don't use canon past that point. It's such a wonderful show but there's so much of it.
Note 2: You are not obligated to have both William and George in the fic if you see an idea you can only do with one of them. I love them both and would be happy with a fic that only includes one.
Shipping: I would prefer if you go this route to timeline it before Murdoch makes his approach to Julia.
One of my favourite parts of the show is that Murdoch (and George) are basically inventing the modern world and it's increasingly ridiculous. Please feel free to see how far you can take this.
I love the supporting cast! Especially the various coroners.
Murdoch is the oldest detective in my fandoms for yt, would he still be around to talk to some of the others?

Agatha Christie's Poirot

Prompts:
I also did a promo post!
What I like about the show is that you sort of get the impression that Poirot thinks they're dating and Hastings hasn't noticed. This is completely optional.

All Creatures Great and Small (TV)

Notes: There's no murder in this canon. Feel free to do crossovers.
This is a comfort show for me. A little less so now that I found out the cow asses were real, but still.

Father Brown (2013)
Characters:
Prompts:
Notes: I haven't seen much past Bunty's arrival, and my favourite seasons were the Sullivan ones, so I'm going to ask the canon cut off for fic is before he just straight up vanishes.
You do NOT have to include all 4 characters in the fic, but a minimum of 2 would be appreciated greatly. I would prefer Flambeau not appear as he's a perfectly fine character but not what I'm looking for this holiday season.
Father Brown! A charming (although not as small as he acts) priest who can't stay out of mischief, his two devoted protectors Sid and Mrs. McCarthy, and Sullivan who is so very tired.
I love case fic! I love adventure! I love mystery! I love fun times!
If your mind goes to writing pairings, any combination (of two) of the above works fine with me because I thought about it and I was like 'yes, I would click a fic with Mrs. McCarthy/Sullivan as the pairing in a heartbeat' so there you go.

Ideas:
- Setting change
- Matching wits with another detective from my fandom list in this letter
- An early case, when she was still green
- Her Final Case
- An English class interrupted by murder
- A scene with her and her deceased husband before he was deceased
- A case she keeps trying to avoid but can't quite manage to stay out of
- A ghost helps her

Murdoch is the oldest detective in my fandoms for yt, would he still be around to talk to some of the others?
- A setting change? Space, different province, different time period, different type of police.
- Murdoch solving plant crimes? Space crimes? Medieval crimes? He's a private detective and George is his plucky secretary?
- Santa is real in the Murdochverse. What the hell
- Ghosts are also real (episode where the ghost of the dead twin revealed his burial place)
- Murdoch's inventions turn on him
- AUs: Private Detective Murdoch and Plucky Secretary George, George's Flower Aunts are Flower Fairies and George is a prince, SPACE Crimes, modern Murdoch inventing Starfleet-level stuff, Ghost crimes, Medieval Murdoch, Coffee shop crimes at the local high school
- Role reversal (Detective Crabtree, Constable Murdoch) (Inspector Crabtree, Coroner Murdoch)
- A horrible goose is tormenting Toronto and Murdoch must invent the perfect goose trap but something's stolen all his tools
- George invents superhero comics
- There's a horse in the station and they can't get it out

Characters:
- Hercule Poirot
- Arthur Hastings
Prompts:
I also did a promo post!
What I like about the show is that you sort of get the impression that Poirot thinks they're dating and Hastings hasn't noticed. This is completely optional.
Ideas:
- Setting change: different continent, different time period, different planet
- Archaeology based crime
- Poirot being fussy
- Ghosts
- Either of them dealing with domestic issues
- Where does Poirot come from, besides 'Belgium', what's his background.
- What is Hastings' idea of a nice day out for the two?
- I've noticed that Hastings often doubts Poirot. Hastings is also his chronicler and we only have his word (mostly in the books) about Poirot's cases where he always seems to be right despite evidence to the contrary from Hastings' reactions. Theory: Poirot burns the records where he's wrong.
- Hastings solves the case.
- A tragedy befalls Poirot's mustaches.
- Hastings tries to grow his own.

- Shenanigans with Tristan and James
- Settings change: space, Canada, magical kingdom, modern
- Ghost cats
- If you set it early enough, maybe they, you know, kiss
- Siegfried is kind of chaotic evil. Tristan gets his back
- In the books, James spends a great deal of time trying to win over some feral cats. Perhaps Tristan and James embark on this quest together?
- James and Tristan decide if they can fix an animal, they can fix James' horrible car
- Having to care for a lamb

- Sid in uniform
- Mrs. McCarthy in uniform
- A character taking on a role they don't normally
