crantz: The hamster is saying bollocks. It is a scornful hamster (Default)

Not book-accurate, but fairly epic Jadis

"Whew!" said Polly, letting out a long breath of relief. "And now I must get home. It's frightfully late. I shall catch it."

-The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis

This is the best bit in the entire Narnia series, I think.

Why? )

Polly is a badass. As well as that, [personal profile] snacky has a fun theory on what happens to Polly after The Magician's Nephew:

"In my headcanon, Polly grows up to be a painter. And after the tree from the Narnia apple that Digory planted blows down, he gives her some of the wood (while using the rest to build the wardrobe). And she uses the wood for frames for her paintings, and one of them is the painting of the Dawn Treader (although Polly doesn't realize she's painting the DT, just a "very Narnian ship") that eventually ends up at the Scrubb's house. That's the reason why Eustace and Edmund and Lucy can get into Narnia through the painting.

Also, there's other paintings she's done that she's used that wood for frames. So there may be other ways to Narnia, in stories we don't know."

ART RECS:

Polly and Digory in the Wood between the Worlds debating jumping into a pool.

Simple, beautiful version of the Wood.

Adorable series of paintings from the book.

An impressive Jadis in pencil.

Also found, but not clicked during my deviant art search for fanart for this book: Philosophical Vore Debate.

Scream.
