My Magical Adventures

So on the 21st I went to the grocery store after days of huddling in my den. Four days later I felt kinda weird! The next day I had stomach issues galore, a runny nose that wouldn't stop, disoriented, and my muscles were hella sore. A few days later they opened up testing to people who weren't having breathing difficulties and I was coughing by then!

Anyway guess what! They do the Covid test by SHOVING A SWAB INTO YOUR NASAL PASSAGE TO YOUR BRAIN CAVITY or that last part may have just been my imagination!

I was all 'I'll be a brave little hamster' immediately followed by 'ah jesus no!' and trying to grab her wrist but I managed to stop myself.

A few days ago I got the results! Negative! But they said they would like me to continue to stay isolated in my apartment just in case until the fourteen days were up so here I am. Trapped like a rat.

Anyway I've felt okay for two days now and I get sprung on the 6th.

So that's been my adventures these past few days. But at least no one had to run a contact trace on me.

Other news: I got a sandwich maker (delivery!) and I've been living the grilled cheese life. Who knew such ecstasy could be found in simple white bread with kraft singles?

We all did, honey. That is our shameful secret.

I'm really glad to hear you're feeling better. When it's been a few weeks since the onset of symptoms, I hope you'll get an antibody test—those awful nasal swab tests have a significant false negative rate.

Ohhhh very glad it was negative! The swab is very long, yes, and reportedly not pleasant at all. But you were a brave hamster!

Re: sandwich maker, this is like when I discovered grilled cheese takes 30 seconds in a microwave. Life-changing. I'd been using a conventional oven my whole life.
