Hello, author!
What I like: friendship, family ties, adventure, and exploration.
What I dislike: Any sort of sex crime, extreme violence, character death, a/b/o.
What I am happy either way with: As long as they behave age appropriately, I am happy with slash (m/m and f/f) or het. No pairing is perfectly fine.
Okay, so here's what I've got and what else I'd like!
Derkholm Series - Diana Wynne Jones // General Audiences // Any Character
I hit 'any' for the characters here because I'd love to see what happened next for any of them, but especially Elda, Ruskin, or Felim! Or anything at all about Don the poor background griffin?
I was pretty satisfied with the course of the books, so what I'm really interested is what happened next or how they ended up.
Part of the appeal of the book to me was a griffin!in!wizarding!school! and if you could do more with that, I would really like it. The whole idea of griffins just meandering through life like just another type of people was super neat. And Elda is just a big ol' sweetie pie.
But also Ruskin, his people escaping slavery, his alliance with Lukin's country to help get them rich, his own future as a magician, all of that would be great to see more of.
And Felim! I felt he got the least development of all the classmates, I suppose to keep the mystery of his relationship to the Emir. I'd like to see more of Felim.
Any of these or all of these would make me very happy!
The Neverending Story - Michael Ende // General Audiences // Any Character
You know what I loved about this book? All the digressions to other stories that went 'but that's a story for another time.' I would love to see one of those another time stories. Any character you want, even a minor one. Or a made up one.
If that's not to your taste, as long as it's a general ages story I'll be happy to read what you like! I enjoy 'what happened next' type things, or reunions for this kind of universe!
I'd especially like to see the further adventures of the gnomes and the achievements hinted at their story for another time. Or luckdragon shenanigans. Or Atreyu's future. Or someone else naming the Childlike Empress and the world they create. How does it go differently for someone who isn't a little boy seeking the sort of adventures Bastian was?
I've always felt that the Neverending Story was about a child's journey while reading a book. How it slowly moves into your mind, until you're imagining yourself or an avatar as part of it, how eventually you move past the story and it doesn't fit anymore, and then you rediscover what made it wonderful in the first place through that.
Anyway, I'd love more fiction from it. I should stress I am very okay with original characters for this, as well as crossovers as long as you know for sure it's a fandom I know.
Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede // General Audiences // Kazul
I want me some dragon politics.
A tale of Kazul's childhood? A tale of Kazul's old age? A Kazul and Cimorene adventure?
I always rather liked Kazul. And again, my fascination with fully sentient species that are not humans. Anything you could do with the dragons would be lots of fun for me to read!
Just as a note: A thing that frustrated me about the books was that Cimorene's good traits were often presented as an 'Unlike those OTHER princesses' and it was sort of depressing. If you could avoid that sort of comparison, that would give this story a +10. I know it's canon, but I didn't enjoy it very much.
That said, I really do love Cimorene. I didn't include her as my character choice, but if you write her I'll be perfectly happy. I loved her. And her gigantic braid. Please include that braid.
Tintin // General Audiences // Tintin, Snowy
Tintin adventures! Or how did Tintin come to get Snowy? Where does Tintin come from? What are Tintin's articles like? Does Tintin get fanmail? What does Tintin get up to when he's not being shot at? What does Tintin get up to when he IS being shot at?
If you include Captain Haddock, please make it around when he's given up the heavy drinking.
So yeah, Tintin is kind of a cipher, because the focus is his adventures. But I'd love it if someone gave him a past and remember that he's a boy reporter. During a later comic, a delirious from Chang visions Tintin gets Haddock chastised for giving him drink, because Tintin is clearly too young.
So why is he out on his own? How does he work? Clarify Tintin. Also, Snowy is a great dog. More Snowy.
The Chronicles of Chrestomanci // General Audiences // Any Character
(Character choice wasn't working for me, I was going to choose Conrad, Christopher, and Millie, but I truly am fine with anything so I'll give ideas for anything)
Adventures of Christopher, Millie, and Conrad learning from DeWitt, or Millie learning how to deal with her new world (I noticed the former Goddess attends church in one of the books, even), or Conrad's restrictions with staying in the wrong world.
Or Cat adventures! I'd love to see Cat as Chrestomanci, or Marianne's growing up with him, or does Janet ever turn out to have magic talents? What sort of things do adult Roger and Julia get up to?
And Klartch! How does Klartch grow up into the world? How does he and Cat get on?
I've mentioned a few times already how much I enjoy magical very non-human things living like humans, so anything like that with Klartch would be great. What if Klartch finds out about Elda's world, if crossovers tickle your fancy?
Magical politics? Cat finding his replacement? Cat and Marianne as adults? Would they work together? What about Janet? How would Cat run Chrestomanci castle?
How did Conrad get along in Chrestomanci Castle? Does he make visits when Cat's a child? Do he and Christopher write each other?
Johnny Maxwell by Terry Pratchett // General Audiences // Johnny Maxwell, Yo-less, Kirsty
What other surreal adventures does Johnny get up to? What IS Yo-less's name? How many names does Kirsty have? What's it like for Yo-less living with Bigmac? Any of this would make me very happy, especially if it's combined.
Johnny's saved aliens, saved the dead, and saved his whole town. What's next to save?
Kirsty's smart and has enough fancifulness to her to keep her pretty entertaining. I'd like to see a lot of Kirsty.
Yo-less is fun. He's got a sense of humour, puts up surprisingly well with his weird friends, and I'm curious about his homelife. His mom seems pretty great, if a bit weird. Stories with Yo-less would be neat!
Any or only one of these characters would be gratefully accepted.
