In retrospect, poor timing

I really need to have my eensy weensy breakdowns at times other than 5 am if I want to interact with another human being.

I couldn't even make a comic about it because I'd already made a comic about that exact situation already.

Anyway, the news is horrible (hate crimes, genocides), I have bad memories (no matter how old I get), and my province is on fire (and the only non-friend acknowledgement I've seen about it was an american warning the US-only about our smoke).

So this isn't a total whiny bummer and a sign I REALLY need to start keeping a paper diary again, I discovered that in my old computer files that I've been keeping since 2005, I have MANY quality vintage hamster pictures. Hell yeah.

Possibly! My first encounter with the word 'Manitoba' was this this cover, and then I heard nothing more until I was grown up and found out it was a place, and an old word, and not made up by the TinTin guy after all.

When I revisited it yesterday I realized of course it wasn't the robot like I believed, it is the submarine he's on!

But after reading a summary, it's actually neither, it was the name of a ship that got attacked by the sub the robot is on. Duh.

Haha, unlike Manitoba, everybody in Germany knows Manitou (and probably thinks that's the kind of monotheistic Over-Deity for all American indigenous people) thanks to our problematic national treasure Karl May. He was all about the everlasting bond of brotherhood of the German and a mostly fictional Apache people. And in his less known, extra weird late work it turns out Manitou is just another facet of the Christian God. And the author's self-insert realizes his martyred Apache blood-brother Winnetou had in fact been another coming of Christ for the indigenous people, who still had some original sin left on their faces, because Christ didn't know about the Americas when he snapped his fingers?

He approached these details like a man who knew his audience was in no position to fact check.

Yeah, Hitler cried like a girl when he died.

To make the context precise then, he was not a Nazi (as such), just the chief Nazi's influential favorite childhood author.
